Now streaming on Disney+, this comic book inspired animated television series from Marvel Animation, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, is all about Peter Parker’s (voiced by Hudson Thames) journey of his freshman year of high school. It also touches on being Spider-Man, and learning to become the hero the city needs.

Disney had dropped new episodes of the series on Wednesdays. All of the following episodes are about a half-hour long. The first episode was released on January 29th, 2025, “Amazing Fantasy” and the second episode together, “The Parker Luck.”  February 5th, 2025, three more episodes were released: “Secret Identity Crisis,” “Hitting the Big Time,” and “The Unicorn Unleashed”. February 12th, 2025, Disney came out with another three episodes, “Duel with the Devil”, ” Scorpion Rising” and “Tangled Web.” The season finale took place last week, on February 19th, 2025 with the two last episodes, “Hero or Menace”, and “If This Be My Destiny…”.

The first season had left on a cliffhanger, but the show was already confirmed for another season. In the first season, Peter Parker obtains his powers and fights against multiple issues, whether it’s skills or enemies. The main villain in the first season is known as Scorpion, which is a leader in a gang called the Scorpions. He obtains his scorpion tail from Dr. Octavious, who is hiding away to create all different kinds of inventions and works.

Fighting against Scorpion made Peter realize that he has a lot to overcome, such as showing mercy, even when he’s filled with hatred, or if the person ‘deserves’ what another hero might have done. Parker knows that being Spider-Man will have plenty of other responsibilities, like keeping people safe, and working for the greater good, but will Peter be able to keep his loved ones safe along with the citizens?
