Since the 1970’s climate change has been a large topic of discussion between people, across news articles/stations, and more. Climate change has been a theory for hundreds of years. However recent studies show that we may never be able to go back, and the climate will sadly only get worse.2024 was considered to be the hottest year on record. And it will only get hotter from there. The glaciers at the poles are melting so much faster than they ever had. Sea levels are rising at a rapid pace and over 5% of the world’s glaciers have melted. This heat has come from the burning of fossil fuels.

This rapid increase is causing animal species such as polar bears to start dying off. Before we know it they will become extinct! Wildfires across the globe have broken out way more than in the past. Many companies have tried to plant more trees to increase fresh air and decrease pollution, but these actions haven’t helped the climate much. President Donald Trump vowed to “Drill, Baby, Drill”. This will increase carbon dioxide emitted into the atmosphere. America is already #1 in the world with the amount of pollution that has been released into the air. He also pulled the U.S. out of the Paris Climate Agreement. This organization helps to decrease climate change and pollution. It helps to limit irreversible/catastrophic damages to our atmosphere. These drillings will only make it worse. Air conditions will decline, and as stated before sea levels will rise.

Venice, Italy will sink and as for Long Island it could be gone within the next 100 years if action is not taken. And by 2050 scientists believe that Atlantic City will be fully submerged so who knows what will happen to our island by then. New Orleans is also believed to become an island by this time. This will happen due to moderate flooding that will slowly but surely destroy multiple cities along shorelines across the world! Action must be taken before it is too late.
