This is arguably the best of all fighting games. It’s easy to follow and to get into unlike some other games (Street Fighter). The colorful cast of characters that is expansive and recognisable.  With cool stages and fun power ups (smash ball anyone). Super Smash Bros Melee is the best in a series of great games.

Mario Kart 8

Mario is the most popular franchise in the world and has sold 528 million copies of its games across the world.  The second most popular franchise is Mario Kart. Mario Kart started out as a small kart racer, but over time the game evolved and many believed it’s at it’s best with Mario Kart 8. With 32 tracks and 30+ characters and some of the best racing controls to be seen in a game. Mario Kart 8 is arguably the best Nintendo game of the decade.

Minecraft

Here is the eye roller that makes you go,”Oh that’s on the list!” But it can be argued that this is the most influential game of the two decades. Without Minecraft you would not have most games that are out today, we would not have Ark Survival Evolved or Fortnite or any of the major indie games to come out in the past 5 years. Minecraft changed the game and was pretty damn good.

Portal 2

Way back when Valve was still making games they were the best in the business. One of their crowning achievements was Portal 2. Portal two is a puzzle game to end all puzzle games, challenging the player’s mind and sometimes their sanity. With the return of GLaDOS one of the best villains in the history gaming. Portal 2 has a compelling narrative and fun gameplay.

Rainbow Six Siege

Siege had the worst launch of any games on the list. Siege is a multiplayer only game where you play as a operator fighting over an objective. The main difference between this and other shooters is that you have to think. This is a one bullet to the head and you’re dead for the rest of the round. But the main reason this game on here is its community. Most multiplayer game communities are usually full of racist 12 year olds saying something about your mother, but Siege invites the types of people who are willing to work to together.

Bioshock Infinite

This was a tough one because every game in the series is a masterpiece, but Infinite stands above the rest. Infinite has two of the most memorable characters in the history of gaming. (Booker and Elizabeth). The gameplay is fun and different from the other games with the introduction of the skyhooks.

Dark Souls

From Software’s seconded game in a dark fantasy setting. Dark Souls is one of the hardest games of all time. Dark Souls brought difficult gaming and hard to understand storytelling back. Dark Souls has some of the most memorable boss fight of the all time (Sif the Great Wolf anyone). Also the soundtrack is perfect.

The Witcher 3 the Wild Hunt

The Witcher 3 is what all RPGs want to be. This looks amazing and has some of the most fun gameplay of the last decade. With a story that both makes sense from the series perspective and manages to stand alone. There is a reason this most awarded game of all time.

Batman:Arkham city

The greatest comic book video game of all time.  The second game in the Arkham series takes Batman out of the cramped quarters of Arkham Asylum and out into the sprawling Arkham City. With so many villains and one of the best combat systems in the history of gaming with a story that does something no one expects it is one of the best games of all time.

Battlefield 4

The battlefield franchise is one successful franchises of all time selling 60 million copies across 11 games.But nowhere is the series at it’s best than in Battlefield 4 with sprawling maps balanced weapons and a campaign that was better than it had any right to be. Battlefield 4 stands above the rest of the franchise.

The Last of Us is Naughty Dog at its best. The story is so gripping and powerful that the opening alone can bring people to tears. With some fun gameplay and the greatest story in the history of gaming. There is reason this game won 249 game of the year awards.
