Pizza Can Save Your Life!

Jake Kessinger, Treasurer

Pizza is a comfort food that most people love. Whether a slice or two for yourself or a pie for you and the squad everyone loves pizza, but no one loves pizza as much as Kirk Alexander. Kirk Alexander is a forty eight year old man who lives alone in Salem, Oregon. He has been ordering pizza every single day from the same Domino’s Pizza shop for almost ten years straight! One day when the Domino’s shop didn’t receive an order from Kirk the employees got suspicious, but thought maybe he went on vacation or was out of town. As the days went by and no orders from Kirk came in, the staff became increasingly worried and alerted their manager, Sarah Fuller, who knew something was wrong after realizing he didn’t order anything in eleven days. Fuller stated “He orders every day, every other day” and “A few of my drivers had mentioned that we hadn’t seen his order come across our screen in a while”. After helping him for nearly ten years the staff had got to know Kirk and considered him a close friend so they decided to investigate.

The manager asked one of their delivery drivers, Tracey, to stop by his house to check up on him and see if he was doing okay. When Tracey arrived, he saw that lights were on and could hear the television.  Yet when he knocked, no one answered. After knocking several times, Tracey decided to go back to the shop and ask his colleagues for help. Collectively they decided to call the police and inform them of their dilemma. The police went to his home and when they knocked they heard cries for help. They broke down the door and called an ambulance for Kirk. Kirk had suffered from a stroke and was unable to move on his floor. He was rushed to the hospital where the Domino’s staff awaited to hear how he would do. Turns out Kirk was able to make a full recovery and the staff was rewarded with the opportunity to go to the Domino’s employee convention in Las Vegas for there heroism. It’s always important to follow your gut instincts no matter the circumstances.
