When you game, what do you play on? This is the most important question a gamer can ask themselves. This will define your experience. Are you a Sony fanboy or do you want Halo or do you want to game on the go?  Every system has it’s pros and cons, so maybe this can help you if you decide to jump into gaming for the first time.

The PlayStation has many advances over the competition. First, the PlayStation has more exclusive games, which means this is when a publisher says they will only sell their game on this console.  The PS4 has Bloodborne,  the steampunk brother of the Dark Souls franchise, and they get Call of Duty DLC a month before the Xbox. It is also the cheaper console.  The cheapest Xbox one is $280 dollars, but you get a game (most of which are $20 dollars) and a 500 gigabyte of storage whereas with the cheapest PS4 it cost $299 dollars and you get one terabyte of storage. Next the PS4 has the advantage when it comes to people, there are more people who own a PS4 than people who own a Xbox so it’s more likely you should be able to play with your friends on a PS4 than on a Xbox.  The PS4 does have its drawbacks such as the fact that it’s PS plus games suck. You get these indie titles that no one has ever heard of and once a year you will get a decent game. Also its servers get hacked and go under a lot.

Xbox on the other hand is not that good. It’s much larger, assuming you get the base version. Xbox also lacks exclusives, sure they Halo and Gears of War but outside of those two how many can you name? Also your friends are less likely to own a Xbox one. The PS4 is outselling the Xbox one by a huge margin, so you are just going to be with less people if you play on an Xbox. Xbox over all is just not as good a of console as it competitors.

Than we have the Switch. The Switch is Nintendo’s newest console The Switch has the leg up when it comes to exclusives and portability. The other consoles are all these giant bricks you need to hook up to a TV, but the Switch comes with a screen installed. Also they exclusives on the Switch are some of the best around. They have last year’s game of the year winner, The Legend of Zelda:  Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey. The Switch does come with some major drawback through like the battery life in portable mode is not great capping out at around 3 hours when playing a game.  The other is the price which gets kinda crazy.  First you have to buy the switch which is $299.99, but that’s not all.  Then you must get an SD card because the storage on the switch is 32 gigabytes and some of that is taken up by operating system, so you must get a bigger one which can cost you up to $70 dollars. Then you must spend another $60 on a game.

             Gaming is one of the greatest pastimes in recent history . Gaming is fun way to experience different worlds in way that other mediums can’t give you.  Whether you pick to get a PlayStation, a Xbox or a Nintendo Switch just be glad that you are a gamer.
