The Charles Street Times Enters the 21st Century!

CST Staff 2016 -2017 was instrumental in moving to an online format.

Aodhan Williams, Staff Writer

As we all know in the previous years, we would get the Charles Street Times newspaper by hand. Now we have the new and improved CST times newspaper which can be found on our website!  This new online newspaper saves the school a ton of  money.  That extra money could not only help the school, but could be used to invest in new ways to help students learn. Also this new online newspaper would make topics so much easier to read and could be looked back at anytime. Now instead of the CST coming out every 6 weeks like it had in previous years, it will come out more frequently because the journalism team does not have to go through the process of printing the newspaper.

Also with the newspaper being uploaded to our website much more than it has in previous years, readers can access what is going on in Lindenhurst or in the world in general. Another option open to LHS is that students now have the ability to write as freelance writers, which will also increase the population of the journalism program. Mrs. Kelly, the advisor for the school newspaper, feels that with more students participating, the Charles Street Times will be able to work together to provide the news sooner.  Mrs.Boccanfuso, the Coordinator of the English Department stated, “I am very excited that the 21st century students have a wonderful opportunity to use digital media to enhance the journalism program while cultivating their technical skill”. This shows a lot about how these two determined women want the best for their students and website. The entire Journalism class is really excited to provide LHS with the new news and latest topics, so be prepared for the future!
