While going through Lindenhurst you may notice a large construction site at 75 East Hoffman Avenue. This is going to be a new apartment complex called The Wel; it is named after Thomas Wellwood (one of Lindenhurst’s founders). This apartment complex will include 260 units and be four stories high. Each unit will be either one-bedroom, two-bedroom, or three-bedroom. 

The idea for the Wel was approved by the village zoning board of appeals in 2017 and construction began in 2019. The project is worked on by Tritec Real Estate. Tritec is a company known for building large apartment complexes that help strengthen communities. The project costs around 102.6 million dollars and is soon to be nearing its final stages. The apartments in the Wel will likely be opened for rent in late spring or early summer this year.  

The addition of this new apartment complex will add a boost to Lindehurst’s local economy. It will promote more traffic to the village and will add more residents. Local businesses will get more business because of it and it is likely that more businesses will open up. With new people and new businesses, it will help build our community more than ever.
