Chonky Cookies Closing

Chonky Cookies Closing

Lindenhurst’s cookie shop, Chonky Cookies, owned by Heather Friedfertig, is closing.

Chonky Cookies, established in 2021, is a local small business that consists of homeaid, stuffed cookies. Currently there are 4 tasty cookie flavors. “S’mores” is a graham cracker dough with milk chocolate chips and it’s stuffed with a marshmallow and Hershey’s milk chocolate. “Bada Bing ” is an almond raspberry dough with semi-sweet chips and tri-color sprinkles stuffed with an Italian rainbow cookie. Topped with raspberry preserves & chocolate sprinkles, “cookies and cream” is a soft white cake dough with Oreo pieces and white chocolate chips. It’s also stuffed with a Double Stuff Oreo and Hershey’s Cookie & Cream Chocolate. Finally, there’s “Joe cookie” which is a classic chocolate chip cookie that was created using Ms. Friedfertig’s family recipe. Chonky cookies also specializes in their CHONKcuterie boards which are primarily dessert platters, that are filled with their iconic cookies, as well as brownies, and rice crispy treats.

Unfortunately, Chonky Cookies is closing down, There is no said reason for its closing, but ideas following the company possibly not making enough money have arisen. The cookies’ retail is five dollars per cookie and other small cookie businesses sell their cookies for cheaper, more affordable prices. For example, popular cookie store, Crumbl, retails their cookies for four dollars per cookie. Another popular cookie store, Insomnia, retails their cookies for a little over two dollars each. More affordable cookies calls for more business because people will buy them more.

It is sad to see Chonky go but this makes room for more opportunities for other businesses, as well as the Chonky business.
