Lindenhurst’s Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony

Lindenhurst’s Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony

Lindenhurst has a tree lighting ceremony every year, usually on the first Sunday of December. Generously, the Lindenhurst Fire Department and the Lindenhurst Memorial Library sponsor this event known as Winter on Wellwood. This year on December 3rd, the town will celebrate the lighting of the Christmas tree in town while drinking hot chocolate and listening to Christmas music. Wellwood Ave. will be closed down so the town can celebrate the holiday season! During the day from 12-3 there are other activities for families to enjoy.

What can you do during the day at Winter on Wellwood? Many fun things! This year, there is a free carousel that is sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce. Families with young children can also attend this event during the day to get photos with Santa up at the gazebo; furthermore, children will receive candy canes, hot chocolate, and other treats. Winter on Wellwood is a family friendly event with many different venues! Starting at 4:30 P.M, there is a parade that begins at Fireman’s Park. Directly following the parade is the aforementioned annual tree lighting ceremony. Families will join together around the Christmas tree and celebrate together!

This is a wonderful night for anyone that attends, and our town provides many entertaining events during the entire day. The streets are filled with members of our town on the night of the annual tree lighting. Many families would recommend going to this event because of the joy and happiness it brings to everyone. It is so exhilarating to see the town’s Christmas tree being lit. This event initiates the start of the holiday season, which brings excitement to everyone in the town.
