The Netflix show, Bridgerton is based on a series of eight novels written by Julia Quinn, set between 1813 and 1832 in England’s Regency era. Each novel features one of the eight children and their attempt to find love. In 2020 the first season made its debut based on the first novel, The Duke and I. Soon after in 2022, the second season was released based on the second novel, The Viscount Who Loved Me. To keep up to date, in 2023 a spin off, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story was released focusing on the Queen’s early life.

Bridgerton was a hit and soon was favored by many viewers. The Romance novels were turned into an eye-catching show that keeps fans hooked. Bridgerton was successful from early on and is releasing part one of its third season on May 16, 2024. Part two will be on Netflix by June 13, 2024, and the season is based on Julia Quinn’s fourth novel, Romancing Mr. Bridgerton

The plot of the third season contains the drama and romance story of the third Bridgerton son, Colin Bridgerton, and his sister’s best friend, Penelope Featherington. Although these novels are mainly focused on the Bridgerton love story, many side plots focus on the Featherington family, other important characters, and the other Bridgerton kids who have not made it into “Society” yet. The Featherington family is another high-class family with royal titles like the Bridgertons. However, they always find themselves in trouble as Lady Featherington (the mother) is not favored by the other families. Season three is also to include a small love story with Francesa Bridgerton, the sixth Bridgerton kid, and her introduction into “Society”.

In season one, an important character, Lady Whistledown made her appearance. Lady Whistledown was an unknown writer who would share the ton’s (term referring to high society in the Regency era) gossip and fill the people in on what happened at the balls and events. The Queen herself even sparked interest in the Whistledown pamphlet and was set on finding out who the culprit was. Lady Whistledown would also write about the Diamond of the Season, which is a debutante picked by the Queen each society season. The Diamond is the most desirable and favorite lady of the courting season; when people travel to England to court or attend social matters. Eloise Bridgerton, Colin’s sister and Penelope’s best friend was dedicating her every move to seek out who Lady Whistldown was, as she was inspired by a woman’s bold actions. At the end of season one, viewers and fans find out the identity of Lady Whistledown but no one in the ton has until season two when Eloise Bridgerton finds out. This brings suspense to the next season and a complicated story plot to unfold.

Season three is set to be a complex, but admiring love story with many built tensions. There are many story plots for the show to cover that were left on a hook in season two. Fans have been waiting and are super excited to watch the new season after the trailer was released. Nicola Coughlan (Penelope Featherington) and Luke Newton (Colin Bridgerton) have been seen in many interviews, photo shoots, and press events together sparking even more anticipation. Fans are longing to know: Who will be the diamond of the season? Everyone gathers their Bridgerton loving family and friends because Season three is just around the corner, and it’s going to be a good one!
