There is this amazing book out there that is a must read for all book lovers or maybe people who want to get into reading. The name of the book is “The Way I Used To Be” by Amber Smith released on March 22 2016. The book follows a girl named Eden who suffers from an attack that happens to her before her freshman year of high school. Readers see how she becomes an entirely new person and how she deals with  the situation that has happened to her alone.  Eden’s relationship with others changes sometimes for the better, other times for the worse.  The book brings you through a roller coaster of emotions and y ou feel it all. Readers feel as if you know her.  The book is beautifully written and fast paced.  For those with a shorter attention span, this book is great for you.  If you are looking for an emotional book to read, this book is definitely the one for you.  It’s hard to put this book down. 

The book ends, but that’s not the end of Eden’s story.  Amber Smith is coming out with a sequel to this book called, “The Way I Am Now” that will be released on November 7,2023.  This book also follows Eden, but after the events that take place in “The Way I Used To Be.”  Readers will see how she is doing now and see how she has grown and healed from the situation. Book fans are ecstatic about the new release as they did love the first book and can’t wait to read the continuation of Eden’s story.  Check out Eden’s story and read the book that is an all time fan favorite and may just become your new favorite book.

Allison Checkley is a junior at Lindenhurst High School. Her favorite things to do include reading and writing poems. She enjoys doing makeup and listening to music. At Lindenhurst High School, she favors both her English and Journalism classes. She enjoys doing karaoke, although she is definitely not the best at it. Allison wants to be a child psychologist when she grows up, as well as an author. This is her first year writing for the Charles Street Times.
