The World of Concert Venues Just Became More Interesting

Entertainment comes in several different forms. Today, people have an infinite amount of sources that provide them with engaging entertainment. One of the most popular forms of entertainment, especially for music lovers, are concerts. Concerts provide satisfaction from seeing your favorite artist live, performing your favorite songs. It is also nice because you are in an environment with people who love the artist as much as you do!

Many people enjoy seeing their favorite artist live, but what adds to the experience is the effects. Effects help enhance the concert experience greatly. Take a band like Gorillaz, whose ideology is being a virtual band that uses auto-tune to make each character sound different. On stage, yes, you can see the singers, but you can also see the effects come into play. The characters are observed by the audience on huge screens behind them. Even lighting helps convey an emotion the artist is trying to get across.

This whole idea of lighting playing a part in a concert experience is about to get even crazier however with the new Las Vegas “Sphere”. The venue was first announced in February of 2018. The actual construction of the Sphere started in September of that same year. The project was first started between the Madison Square Garden and Las Vegas Sands. The design itself was created by Populous. The final cost of the sphere was 2.3 billion dollars to make, which originally was supposed to cost only 1.2 billion dollars. You can tell that this wasn’t an easy project to build, but a lot of people think it was worth the money. The Sphere was finally opened on September 29, 2023. It opened by having the first people ever performing in it be the band “U2”. The interior of the Sphere includes the world’s largest LED screen. It has screens on the inside and outside of it.

Besides the features of the LEDS, the actual speakers happen to be built behind the LED panels themselves. These speakers make the sound quality excellent. The Sphere even uses a specialized camera system called ¨Big Sky¨. This system was created to produce material specifically for the venue. It’s believed to be one of the most, if not the most, advanced camera systems in the world.

The Sphere has intentions to not only be used for concerts but also as a venue for award shows and other events. For concerts as a whole, this concert venue is about to elevate the concert experience.
