Soon and expected to come out September 22nd, 2025, Sega is finally releasing another Sonic racing game. Sonic Racing: Crossworlds is going to be playable on the Nintendo Switch, both the Playstation Five and Four, the Xbox One, and Xbox Series X and S. On September 17th, the demo of this game was released. Including all DLC characters, Sonic Racing: Crossworlds will have at least 50 playable characters. 28 of these characters are from the Sonic the Hedgehog series, 23 free to play, three from the Sonic Prime series, one unlockable, and one as a pre-order bonus. Characters from the Sega francise will also be added monthly, and some will be part of the season pass.
Every character will be categorized into types. These types will be Speed, Acceleration, Handling, Power, and Boost. Types determine the stats that the character will have. Speed types will have higher speed, meaning a higher top speed, average handling and power, but low acceleration and boost. Acceleration types will have higher acceleration, reaching top speed quicker, average speed and power, but low handling and boost. Handling types have easier handling, vehicles take tighter turns, average acceleration and boost, but low speed and power. Power types have higher power, making them stronger against obstacles in the way, average speed and boost, but low acceleration and handling. Boost types have higher boosts, increasing speed shortly from boosts, average acceleration and handling, but low speed and power. The Machines or vehicles will also be categorized into these types as well.
Extra characters that will be added are known from Minecraft, Persona, Like a Dragon, Project DIVA, Spongebob Squarepants, PAC-MAN, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Avatar Legends, and more. These include Hatsune Miku, Joker, Ichiban Kasuga, Steve, Alex, Creeper, and more. The known Sonic characters, like Sonic, Shadow, Amy Rose, Tails, Knuckles and more will also be in this game.
