Throughout 2025, a lot has happened in politics, new-age film media, the advancement of AI, and more, but it has become hard to keep up. Here’s what you may have missed in music.
2025 has seen a number of comebacks, with bands we haven’t heard from in a while now going on tour or dropping new music, such as Coldplay, Violent Femmes, Foo Fighters, and Deftones, as well as newer bands we never knew we needed. With that, there have also been numerous “album drops” and new artists on the rise.
Coldplay has announced that their final studio album is soon to come; there is not much information on the album. Their tour kicked off on May 31, 2025
Violent Femmes kicked off their tour on March 18, 2025.
Foo Fighters started their tour on September 13, 2025, and introduced a new drummer by the name of Ilan Rubin, on July 2, 2025, they introduced a new single called today’s song.
Deftones started touring on February 25, 2025, with special guests The Mars Volta and Fleshwater. Five months later, on July 10, 2025, they announced their album private music, which would be fully released on August 22, 2025.
On January 5th, 2025, Bad bunny released Debi tirar mas fotos (I should have taken more photos), a reggaeton salsa filled album. Debi tirar mas fotos is also bad bunny’s sixth studio album with Rimas Entertainment he also produced a thirteen minutes short film correlating to the album. As of September 20, 2025, Bad Bunny will be performing at the Super Bowl 2026.
Although he passed on January 17th, Mac Miller released his second posthumous album, balloonerism, and a twenty-four minute long short film. This album is a jazz, psychedelic-filled album. There was also a balloonerism-inspired movie directed by Samuel Jerome Mason.
The on-the-rise artist Sombr released his studio debut album on August 22, 2025. Sombr seems to be an overnight sensation with his overall positive response in the industry.
The name Ley soul started to circulate in early 2025 with her song that was released in November of 2023. Her newfound stardom was mesmerizing, with her rhythmic blues mixed with psychedelic indie seems to make the perfect blend.
