Developed by the same creators of Marvel’s Spider-Man, Insomniac Games, Wolverine will be published by Sony Interactive Entertainment and playable in the second half of 2026. This action-adventure open world game will be playable on PlayStation, unfortunately not Xbox or Nintendo, once it’s released. Marvel’s Wolverine is inspired by the Marvel Comics character Wolverine. Marvel’s Wolverine will be a single player story game, where the player plays as James “Logan” Howlett, also known as Wolverine. Wolverine is an immortal centuries old mutant with retractable claws between his knuckles, with a quick healing factor, and more of an animalistic instinct than the regular person. In the play through, other known characters such as Mystique and Omega Red will have an appearance.
Marvel’s Wolverine was announced with Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 (2023) by Insomniac Games during the PlayStation Showcase event in September of 2021. As said in that announcement, Marvel’s Wolverine will be set in the same universe as Marvel’s Spider-Man (Earth-1048), just in a different timeline. Marvel’s Wolverine will be the first in a trilogy like Marvel’s Spider-Man’s series. Insomniac Games’ Marvel’s Spider-Man series was an excellent story, so hopefully Insomniac Games will be able to create an even better story for the Wolverine trilogy series.
James “Logan” Howlett or Weapon X or Wolverine is often associated with the X-Men, but can be seen with the Fantastic Four, Avengers, and X-Force. His first appearance was in The Incredible Hulk #180 (October 1974), and had a full appearance in The Incredible Hulk #181 (November 1974). Wolverine has appeared in many X-Men adaptations, such as television series, other video games, and films, the most recent being Deadpool & Wolverine (2024), played by Hugh Jackman and in all other Wolverine films, besides Henry Cavill playing “Cavillrine” In Deadpool and Wolverine.
