Now that the Los Angeles Dodgers have been crowned World Series Champions, free agency is officially underway, and why not start free agency off by talking about the most sought-after free agent there is, Kyle Tucker.
Kyle Tucker is a sweet swinging lefty who has accumulated four All Star appearances, two Silver Slugger Awards, a Gold Glove Award, and a 2022 World Series ring with the Houston Astros, all before age 29.
After spending 7 years with Houston, where he accumulated a 22.8 WAR with 125 home runs and 417 RBI, Houston traded Tucker to the Chicago Cubs due to not having the funds to sign him to a long term contract.
Tucker started off extremely hot for the Cubs in 2025, but started to slow down as the year went on, Nonetheless, he finished the season with a .266 batting average, 22 home runs and 73 RBI as well as an All Star nod and a Silver Slugger Award.
Now Tucker is heading into his age 29 season and is aiming to get a huge pay day, which he 100% deserves. The only question is, who is going to sign him?
There are 3 teams that come to my mind. The reigning champion Los Angeles Dodgers, World Series runner-up Toronto Blue Jays, and the Philadelphia Phillies.
The Los Angeles Dodgers have proven to be able to acquire any free agent on the market after getting Roki Sasaki, Blake Snell, and Tyler Glasnow last year on route to winning their second World Championship in a row. It’s hard to not rule the Dodgers out when a major free agent is on the market, especially because their one missing piece to a three-peat is a corner outfielder.
Both the Phillies and the Blue Jays are in desperate need of a corner outfielder when Nick Castellanos gets released and after the inconsistencies of Anthony Santander respectively. Toronto was one power hitter away from beating the Dodgers this year and I’m convinced that Kyle Tucker is that piece.
Philly is in the same boat, their team is getting old and they need to get a key piece now before they have to break up their core. Philly is coming off of back to back first round exits after winning the division by a landslide in both years. Kyle Tucker would help them immensely.
Since it is still early in the offseason, I don’t think Kyle Tucker will sign anytime soon, but it’s always fun to speculate on where a player may end up, and I am confident that either one of those three teams is where Kyle Tucker will end up.
