As of December 19, 2025 the anime adaptation for Steel Ball Run (Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure Season 6/Part 7) was confirmed to commence airing on March 19th of 2026. As of this article’s writing (1/28/26) that would mean the first episode is set to release in 50 days.
Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure is an action/adventure/mystery series that initially started out with combat against vampires and ancient beings using a power derived from the sun that requires a specific breathing technique called Hamon. Eventually the series found a definite medium for battles called “Stands”. A stand is a mysterious power that can be obtained through various means which often mirrors the personality/motives of the characters who wield them. The stronger a character’s fighting spirit the stronger the stand’s ability gets.
In Steel Ball Run, the characters primarily use these abilities to attack, but there are 2 other new means of gaining power introduced in the part including the “Spin” and the Saint.
The gist of the story is that Johnny Joestar, an out of commission horse rider finds interest in the Steel Ball Run Race being held. Not from the desire to obtain the money from the prizes for placing highly, but because he met a man named Gyro Zeppeli. He encounters him after an altercation breaks out between Gyro and another applicant for the Steel Ball Run. Gyro utilizes “Spin” energy to defeat the man and that energy comes in contact with Johnny allowing him to walk despite his state of paralysis from the waist down. This piques Johnny’s curiosity and desire to regain his ability to walk, and is the reason Johnny joins the Steel Ball Run due to Gyro’s avoidance of him.
Some things to note about the production of the anime is that they will be utilizing CGI to animate some scenes that feature horses especially on a large scale, two members of the production crew that worked on Season 4 (Part 5) have worked on it, and that the length of the source material will definitely lead to some cutting of scenes down the road considering that the first scene in the first chapter with the Native Americans was nowhere to be seen in the trailer.
In conclusion, the Steel Ball Run anime is soon to come and will make waves considering well accredited producers are returning, how highly praised the source material is, and how fun and entertaining Hirohiko Araki wrote the dialogue especially within character interactions.
