And the winner is…
My favorite movie that was released in 2025 was Wake Up Dead Man. It’s the third film in the Knives Out series. The movies are standalone murder mysteries directed by Rian Johnson. Each movie features a new ensemble cast, distinct setting, and plot. The only recurring character is the detective, Benoit Blanc. Wake Up Dead Man was my favorite movie of the year because it blends a fun whodunnit style with deep, personal thematic explorations of faith and mortality. The movie tackles complex modern issues like how religion, money, and politics are often intertwined in today’s society. The film is also very visually appealing and adopts a gothic aesthetic. The cast also gave very strong performances that ground the film’s complex, dramatic, and humorous moments. The movie was something fun and different.
With 2025 now behind us, the only question left with the “Grammys” over is who will win the Oscars now? That question will be answered in March but until then let’s talk about my favorite movie of 2025. 2025 had a lot of releases this year that were all really well done and so much fun. However, as a huge fan of horror media my favorite film of 2025 is Zach Cregger’s Weapons. With so much anticipation built up after Cregger’s previous film Barbarian, horror fans were on the edge of their seat for this to be released and for good reason. Weapons follows multiple character’s perspectives after 17 kids in one class while only 1 kid in that class remains. Those perspectives range from the teacher of that class with the kids who went missing all the way to the only kid who didn’t go missing in that class. Weapons is my favorite film of 2025 due to how much fun I had watching the first time and how it’s only gotten better in my head. It’s a fun idea that I believe Cregger executed perfectly. To me, Amy Madigan deserves the Oscars for
best actress in a supporting role.
My favorite movie of 2025 was Final Destination Bloodlines. Final Destination Bloodlines is the sixth movie of the series. The story is about a college student Stefani Reyes (played by Kaitlyn Santa Juana), who has recurring nightmares of a catastrophic tower collapse. She learns that her grandmother, Iris, was a survivor of a 1969 disaster at the Sky View Tower, and Death is coming for their family tree because they were “never supposed to exist.
I enjoyed watching this movie because it shows a generational curse, where after each child was born they were added to Death’s list. Death also targets the family in order.
My favorite movie of 2025 was Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle. I chose this movie aas my favorite because of the art, action, and story telling. With every frame in this movie, there were many contrasting colors, along with the plenty of action in the movie. Before this movie, Demon Slayer’s seasons have also been full of action and art, but this movie had the most interesting story within the fights. Between the protagonists winning or losing, it was hard to depict who would win the entirety of the war. Also, the stories of the antagonists, such as Akaza, were really tricking, making me feel bad for them. Overall, this movie was definitely my top 1 for 2025.
My favorite movie of 2025 was Zombies 4 from Disney. This movie featured 2 new groups: daywalkers and vampires. The daywalkers and vampires have been going at each other for decades. The lead daywalker Nova played by Freya Skye Jones and the lead vampire Victor played by Malachi Barton; eventually bring their groups together. With the help of Zombie Zed played by Milo Manheim and Alien Addison played by Meg Donnelly. The movie goes through even if you’ve been fighting with one or a group for a long time everyone you can still come together and turn over a new chapter in your life. This shows life’s too short to fight with someone your whole life and it’s a great thing to connect with people; trust your gut and not follow the pack.
My favorite movie of 2025 is Madea’s Destination Wedding. This movie has others of its kind and every single one of them is hilarious. All of the actors and actresses played amazing, and for all the movies the characters are normally played by the same actor every time, keeping consistency. and I laughed through most of the movie when I watched it with my boyfriend. I have seen a few other movies that have been released this year but I think that this one has to take the cake for best movie and deserves recognition at the Academy Awards. But, what do you think was the best?
I watched many movies in 2025 and I narrowed down my favorites to Sinners, Marty Supreme, and Superman.
And after days of thinking, I am going to pick Sinners as my favorite movie of the year.
Sinners was able to incorporate beautiful cinematography, vampires, and music, into this monumental horror film directed by one of my favorite directors, Ryan Coogler and starring one of my favorite actors in its lead role, Michael B. Jordan.
Michael B. Jordan was tasked with playing twins Smoke and Stack in this movie, and I could not believe how well he pulled it off. Even though both characters looked identical(excluding outfits), he gave each of them different expressions and minute details that differentiated the two. In my personal opinion, Michael B. Jordan is the clear Best Actor winner at this year’s Oscars(Sorry Timothée Chalamet).
While Smoke and Stack were the main characters of this film, the movie itself is about Sammie Moore, played by Miles Caton, and his journey through the Mississippi Delta during the Jim Crow Era.
After I walked out of the theatre, I found out that this was Miles Caton’s first feature film, which was unbelievable because of how incredible he was.
I can go on and on about how excellent this movie is because it truly is flawless, but I’ll end on this note. No matter how the Oscars go, Sinners was the best looking movie I’ve seen this year and also contained the best cast and most intriguing story of any film that came out this year(Marty Supreme close second).
It is a must watch.
