Mitski’s new album, released on February 27, 2026, adds on to her count of her studio albums, being her eighth. The album contains eleven songs, with the duration of 34 minutes and 27 seconds. Her debut album Lush from 2012, Mitski has grown exponentially as an artist.

Within this album, Mitski sings about identity, loneliness, and the feeling of disappearing from the spotlight. Mitski depicts the album through a character who lives alone and thinks about her memories and life. The woman’s story deals with understanding oneself and the feeling of loneliness.

This album isn’t just another collection of songs, it tells a story. The lyricism of the album has deeper meanings than the surface level, elevating the storytelling aspect.

Overall, Mitski is an extremely talented artist and is able to connect with her fans through her music. If you’re looking for an indie artist, Nothing’s About to Happen to Me, is an amazing album to tune in to.

Kylie Vogel is a Sophomore at Lindenhurst High School. This is her second year writing for The Charles Street Times. She spends her free time listening to music by various artists, reading books, watching shows and movies, and writing. Kylie is involved in Lindenhurst Highschools Junior Varsity Field Hockey team and the Girls Varsity Track and Field team. Although it is only Kylie’s second year writing for the CST, she plans on continuing her writing journey all throughout high school.
