Life of the Party is a new movie that came out on May 11, 2018. It is rated PG-13 and is directed by Ben Falcone. This movie is about a women named Deanna, played by Melissa McCarthy, who is suddenly dumped by her husband. After the breakup, she makes the decision to go back to college, and is in the same classes her daughter is in. As she gets used to the experience of being in college, she is now Dee Rock. Throughout her year of college, she finds herself and learns about more about her daughter and bonds with her. This movie also stars other famous actors and actresses like Gillian  Jacobs, Maya Rudolph, Debby Ryan, Matt Walsh and Stephen Root.

Melissa McCarthy starred in many comedies and TV shows including The Boss, Mike & Molly, Bridesmaids, and The Heat. She will also be starring in a new movie called The Happytime Murders. This movie has been in the news recently because they were sued by the people of Sesame Street. They decided to sue because they thought, the new movie would ruin their show and make people think badly of it. The Happytime Murders, includes many puppets, like in the Sesame Street show. The movie will probably include cursing, making Sesame Street possibly look bad. The people of The Happytime Murders won the lawsuit against the people of Sesame Street, resulting in the movie to come out on August 17, 2018.

The Life of the Party has been getting terrible reviews and had a 38% on Rotten Tomatoes. Amy Nicholson said “This is a heartier celebration of McCarthy’s talents, a mash note to a comic who can also play flirtatious, empathetic, and human. She’s believable, even if the scenes setting-off her performance aren’t.”

The Life of the Party seems to be just another comedy movie with Melissa McCarthy that does not do very well and is not liked by many. This movie did not do a bad as some of her other movies, however, like The Boss from 2016 that has a 22% on Rotten Tomatoes. When you are seeing a movie with Melissa McCarthy, you should just expect a few funny jokes and be pretty decent as a movie as a whole.
