The ARMS Backpack Club

Within our own LHS lies a club that sets up students for their utmost best in school. The ARMS Backpack program donates new or gently used school supplies to children in need, giving them the best experience they can within our Lindenhurst community. This LHS club has made its impact by doing it’s part  along with supporters within the Lindenhurst community. “With the help of Turtle Graphx, the Lindenhurst Moose Lodge, South Shore Theater, and St. John’s Evangelical church last year, the club donated over 90 backpacks to students in each of the elementary schools, the middle school, and the high school,” stated Ms. Bottachari, the club’s advisor. Thanks to each of these supporters, each of these backpacks go to a student in Lindenhurst that will use it to its fullest potential.

Every year the members of the club fundraise to purchase school supplies and resources for Lindy students. Towards the end of the school year, the club holds a murder mystery dinner to raise funds for the incoming months.  In the summer months, the club members get together to stuff, assemble and distribute supplies to families throughout the district.  With the help of one of the club’s best advisors, Ms.Bottachari has made it the club’s mission to bring the club to its fullest potential in helping our students.

Considering the goodness and service that this club provides for other community members, this club is a hidden gem in this school that should be brought out into the light to shine. Julia Roman, a 9th grade member of the ARMS club states, “Everybody is here for one another offering help wherever it is needed. That’s why the ARMS club is here. We give kids the materials they need to have a successful school year.”  It has truly made a difference in the lives of our students here in Lindenhurst and with the community’s help, it has truly blossomed into an organization that Lindenhurst can be proud of.
